Black Weight Loss Success: Jade’s 60-Pound Journey

Transformation of the Day: Jade lost 60 kilos over four years at Howard School. She noticed she was often out of breath while strolling up and down campus hills; so she started eating full meals and working out (side note: Congrats Jade for graduating this year! You Know!)


Hello there! My name is Jade and I am 22 years old. In two and half years time I lost 60 lbs while maintaining this current weight for health purposes as well as film of me! My motivation behind losing those extra kilos was simply my health being improved through taking better pictures of myself!

As 2019 began, I had just recently begun school and weighed 250+ kilos despite only being 5’3″. At Howard School there are many hills that must be conquered each day to get to my class; I always found myself out of breath and never satisfied with how my body appeared.

My journey started by eating cleaner and exercising regularly. In the cafeteria, I limited myself to full meals like roast chicken with vegetables, potatoes, rice and cheese as part of a full menu. Furthermore, all fast foods, snacks juice sugary drinks chips ice cream etc were no longer consumed regularly and reduced.

My initial workout routine consisted of simple cardio exercises for 30+ minutes each week (i.e. treadmill running or elliptical). As time progressed I also added weight lifting as part of this regime with great success.

Sometimes I yearned to stop, yet I knew the image I desired in myself and wanted others to witness what I observed as soon as I looked in the mirror.

I managed to shed 60 kilos within four months. At present, my weight has stabilised at 195. I still have much progress ahead, yet am proud of myself for taking action and losing so much.

My primary lesson from this journey has been the importance of staying steady without too much focus on size fluctuations, knowing your weight will change with you on your journey.

Should you remain committed, the results will begin to become increasingly obvious and visible. Cravings may still present themselves from time to time; it will only become rewarding once they don’t give in mentally or physically!
